Frequently asked questions
How the score works, where the data comes from, and what PotusFeel can and can’t tell you.
- What is PotusFeel?
- PotusFeel is a live read on the mood of the President of the United States, scored from his own public social-media posts and shown as a single number from 0 (pure rage) to 100 (euphoric). It updates the moment he posts. It is a parody and data-curiosity project — a mood ring for the news cycle, not an official or scientific instrument.
- How is the mood score calculated?
- Each new post is read by a language model that scores its emotional temperature on a 0–100 scale, then mapped to one of nine labelled bands. The model is prompted to weigh tone, word choice, punctuation and intensity — distinguishing genuine anger from confident trolling, and celebration from sarcasm. The full breakdown of the bands lives in the Mood Index guide.
- Where does the data come from?
- Exclusively from the President’s own public posts on Truth Social. PotusFeel reads what he publishes; it never invents quotes or paraphrases beyond a short one-line summary. Market context on the home page uses public S&P 500 price data, with all timestamps shown in US Eastern time.
- How often does it update?
- Continuously. A watcher checks for new posts every couple of minutes and re-scores the moment one appears, so the headline number reflects his most recent post rather than a daily summary. On a busy day the reading can change many times an hour.
- How accurate is it?
- Treat it as informed entertainment, not measurement. Automated sentiment scoring is good at catching the obvious — a furious all-caps post versus a cheerful one — but it can misread irony, inside jokes, or quoted text, and reasonable people will sometimes disagree with a given score. The nine-band system is deliberately coarse so that small misreads don’t change the overall picture.
- Why track the President's mood at all?
- Because one person’s temperament genuinely moves markets, rattles allies, and sets the tone of a news cycle before breakfast. Tone is a signal that traders, diplomats and journalists already read in real time; PotusFeel just makes that signal legible at a glance. There’s a longer argument on the about page.
- What is the prediction game?
- A small guessing game on the home page: you call whether his next post will read angrier or happier than the current score. Your guess locks until a new post arrives, then grades itself automatically and tracks your streak and accuracy. It runs entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to a server and no account is needed.
- How is the market correlation measured?
- For each post made during market hours (9:30 AM–4:00 PM ET), PotusFeel measures how the S&P 500 moved over the following ten minutes, capped at that day’s close, and averages the result across his angry and upbeat posts over the last 30 days. It is an observational curiosity, emphatically not trading advice.
- What do the colours mean?
- Each mood band has its own colour — reds and oranges for anger, greens and yellows for good moods — and that colour tints the site as the mood shifts, so you can read the temperature at a glance before you read the number. The full map is in the guide.
- Is PotusFeel affiliated with the President or the government?
- No. PotusFeel is an independent parody and commentary project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any government official, campaign, or platform. All names, marks and likenesses belong to their respective owners.
- Can I put PotusFeel on my own site?
- Yes — there’s a small embeddable live badge. Use the share menu on the home page to copy the embed code, then paste it wherever you want a compact, auto-updating view of the current mood.
- Does PotusFeel collect my data?
- We don’t ask for accounts or personal information, and the prediction game’s history stays in your own browser. Standard server logs and advertising cookies may apply; the details are in the privacy policy.
